The Federal Hill Premiere Food & History Walking Tour is a 3-hour walking and sitting tour consisting of visits to food shops, bakeries, wine stores & the people who maintain the legacy of this unique historic settlement in the heart of Providence, Rhode Island. The presentation of Federal Hill history, anecdotes, and food talk is designed to enlighten you with the most Knowledge and culture. Chef Walter will also give you valuable info on olive oil varieties, Balsamic Pasta, Rice, and products purchased. Meet Chefs, Bakers, Merchants, and Historians. Typical day
The tour will begin at Garibaldi Park, located under the arch at the entrance of Atwells Avenue in Providence.
Join Master Chef and Historian Walter Potenza in the discovery of great foods and the history of Federal Hill in Providence. Our Premiere Food Tour will take you to different locations where you will be sampling Cheeses, Charcuterie, and Antipasti while receiving a presentation on ingredients present in the repertoire of Italian Cookery. You will also learn food terminology, product information, how to shop, how to store foods, and anything that may be of interest to expanding your culinary horizon. Throughout the walking event, you will meet the people who make it possible for Federal Hill to be recognized as a food and historical destination in the USA.
Joining the Federal Hill Premiere Food & History Tour, you'll receive;
1) History of Federal Hill with the related Culture going back to 1886 when the first influx of immigrants entered Providence
2) Food samples with educational instructions and information on food products, recipes, and shopping suggestions along the route.
3) Free copy of Chef Walters's "Federal Hill's Flavors & Knowledge Cookbook."

Cancellation policy
The Federal Hill Cultural Walking Tours Tickets are non-refundable without seven days' notice. They may be rescheduled for another date if given within the 7-day notice. The Federal Hill Cultural Walking Tours Management reserves the right to cancel the event if the minimum number of participants is not obtained. Suppose the Federal Hill Cultural Walking Tours Management should cancel the event. In that case, reserved participants will receive a full refund, opt to reschedule the date, or use the funds toward a Cooking Class at Chef Walters Cooking School.
The Federal Hill Cultural Walking Tours will be offered in acceptable weather conditions. In the event of a cancellation, the guests will be notified up to 24 hours prior, and the event will be rescheduled. The Federal Hill Cultural Walking Tours Gift Certificates do not expire. They may be used for another date but will not be refunded.
Logistic details
The Federal Hill Cultural Walking Tours are suitable for a minimum of 6 participants and a maximum of 20 to ensure proper communications and smooth logistics. We strongly suggest comfortable shoes and acceptable clothing. Water and/or soft beverages are allowed. The Tours begin at 9 AM and end at noon. Please arrive 10 minutes earlier for the necessary presentation and tour overview. You may stop for personal reasons and rejoin the group at your convenience.
Participants in wheelchairs are welcome, accompanied by a paying companion.
